DR MARGOT WHITFELD

(Dermatologist) MBBS DTM&H FACD

Dr Margot Whitfeld is a highly qualified Dermatologist who has been practicing for over 20 years.   Apart from general dermatology, her main interest has been in the etiology and pathogenesis of rosacea, a common disease affecting the skin and the eyes. In particular she has been looking at the possible role of Staphylococcus epidermidis in the pustules of rosacea.  In the field of HIV , she has been conducting a skin clinic for mostly HIV infected persons for 12 years, and is now interested in the immune restoration phenomenon as it applies to the skin. She is also in the field of Global health.  Her interest in scabies, an endemic disease throughout much of the world and particularly in the Pacific. Recent work has been on the prevalence of scabies has been conducted in Fiji, and the next project will be to do a trail of different mass drug treatment regimes in isolated islands of Fiji.She is a senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales, and a visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent's Public and Private Hospital Sydney.Dr Whitfeld also runs a HIV clinic every Monday morning at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Australia.Qualifications:Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery University of Sydney, Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Liverpool UK    

  

  

DR JACQUELINE MATULICH (Dermatologist) BSc BHB MB ChB FACD

Dr Matulich is a dermatologist whose expertise encompasses both adult and paediatric dermatology. She aims to offer an excellent level of care to all of her patients.

Dr Matulich graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology before completing her medical training at Auckland University. She then worked for a number of years in hospitals in Australia and New Zealand, gaining a wide range of skills. On being awarded the Research Fellowship at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Australia, Dr Matulich researched the genetics of atopic dermatitis before commencing her training in dermatology in Sydney, Australia.

Dr Matulich is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She has published in leading journals. She has lectured to other doctors at numerous dermatological and medical forums and is involved in the teaching of medical students and dermatology trainees. She is a Staff Specialist at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick where she conducts regular clinics including a specialist laser clinic treating children from NSW and interstate with vascular birthmarks.

  

     

Dr Vanessa Paddon

(Dermatologist) BMedSci, MBBS, MMed, MMed (Inf&Imm), FACD

Dr Paddon is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She trained in medicine at the University of Sydney and graduated in 2004 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science degrees. Following two years of clinical work, Dr Paddon pursued full-time research at the University of Sydney. She received the University of Sydney Postgraduate Award for her research into molecular events involved in the progression of non-melanoma skin cancer and was awarded a Master of Medicine postgraduate degree for this work in 2009. For this research, she also received the Young Investigator Award from the Australasian Society of Dermatological Research. During this time, Dr Paddon also completed a Master of Medicine postgraduate degree in Infection and Immunity at the University of Sydney.

Dr Paddon then undertook specialist training in dermatology, working at a number of tertiary teaching hospitals in NSW including: Royal Prince Alfred, John Hunter, Prince of Wales, Sydney Children’s, Royal North Shore and St Vincent’s Hospitals. She has also practised in more peripheral locations including: Dubbo, Orange, Bourke, Brewarrina, Coffs Harbour and Wyong.

Dr Paddon is a published author in peer-reviewed international journals including the British Journal of Dermatology, the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and the International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, amongst others.  She has presented at national dermatological and scientific conferences. 

Dr Paddon is a visiting medical officer at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney where she is involved in providing specialist dermatology clinics, care of inpatients and the teaching of medical students, junior doctors and dermatologists-in-training. She is also a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and lectures to medical students.

Dr Paddon is skilled in general, procedural and cosmetic dermatology with a special interest in the management of skin cancer (surgical and non-surgical) and acne.

  

Dr Nghi Huynh

(Dermatologist) MB BS BSc (Med) MMed FACD

Nghi graduated in Medicine from the University of NSW in 1997 and worked in general medicine for a number of years before completing a Master of Medicine degree researching the role of peptides on immune function at the University of Sydney. Her findings were published in the prestigious international journal of Immunology in 2003. Nghi also played an important role in the co-ordination of the Australian Mohs’ surgery database, now the largest in the world. She completed the 4 year Dermatology specialist training program and was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2008. Outside of Medicine, Nghi’s other interest is meditation, and she runs regular meditation classes.  

  

Dr Annika Smith

(Dermatologist) MBBS (Hons) MPHTM, FRACP, FACD

Dr Annika Smith is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and consultant dermatologist at several private clinics in Sydney and the Melanoma Institute.

Annika is a general dermatologist in both the adult and paediatric domains and holds a special interest in medical dermatology. Her specific interests include; eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, connective tissue disease and photodermatology in addition to skin cancer prevention, diagnostics and management.

Dr Smith completed her medical school training at Monash University in Melbourne with first class honours and was awarded university prizes for the highest aggregate marks in clinical medicine, infectious diseases, dermatology and psychiatry.

Annika completed her Physician’s training in general medicine at Royal Prince Alfred and Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. This was followed by her Dermatology training at Prince of Wales, St Vincent’s hospital and the Skin and Cancer Foundation Darlinghurst.

Annika was selected to undertake a fellowship year as part of her training at the prestigious St John’s Institute of Dermatology London, followed by further sub-specialty training in New York in her areas of interest working alongside leading Dermatologists in their field.

  

Dr Nancy Todes-Taylor

(Dermatologist) MD, FAAD, FACD

We would like to introduce our new dermatologist Dr Nancy Todes-Taylor who hails from San Francisco California.  

Dr Todes-Taylor is a board certified American Dermatologist who is both a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and The Australasian College of Dermatology.  

Dr Todes-Taylor has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Cornell University, New York and graduated from Yale University School of Medicine, with her senior honors thesis on Uveitis and Vitiligo. 

Dr Todes-Taylor’s medical internship was at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital New York and she then moved west to complete her Dermatology Residency at Stanford University, where she was the Chief Resident of Dermatology in her final year.  

Dr Todes-Taylor then joined the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group whereby she helped establish the Dermatology Department in Santa Rosa California and the Mohs department in San Rafael California. She was also the founding member of the Cosmetic Dermatology Group at San Rafael and Mill Valley California.   

Dr Todes-Taylor continued with her academic and teaching interests with clinical faculty positions at Stanford University and University of California San Francisco. Her special interests include skin cancer, skin cancer education, hair-loss, vitiligo, psoriasis and cosmetic dermatology.   

Nancy has travelled to Australia on numerous occasions to attend dermatology conferences over the years with her Australian husband and family.  In 2014-2015 she took a six month sabbatical to practice at St George Hospital, Sydney to pursue her academic interests in Australia.  

She has been admitted as an Australian Dermatologist, meeting all requirements of the Australasian College of Dermatology.  

Dr Todes-Taylor is now looking forward to joining Dr Margot Whitfeld and Associates and bringing her extensive 30 year plus experience of Clinical Dermatology to the Practice.   

Dr Todes-Taylor’s interests include travel, art, family and meeting new people.  

  

Winny Youlley

Practice Manager

  

Winny has been our practice manager for the past 19 years.   She is responsible for the overall smooth running of the practice.   Winny is also a nurse and assists the dermatologists with procedures  including biopsies, excisions and general dermatology.

Kate and Richard are usually your first point of contact with the clinic and will take the time to answer all of your questions.   Together they man the front desk assisting with booking of appointments as well as stepping you through the rest of the process.  

  

     

SNR SUE WOODFORD

(Specialist Dermatology/Registered Nurse)  

Sue has worked in most fields of the nursing industry for more than thirty years.   The last fifteen years she has specialised in the field of Dermatology.   This has entailed wide experience in surgical procedures, wound care and a wide range of cosmetic procedures under the tutition of some of the very best dermatologists.   At St Leonards she is the practice nurse and also carries out many of the  Broadband Light (BBL), and photodynamic treatments (PDT).

   

  

  

  

  

SNR LESLEY RHODES (Registered Nurse)

Lesley is a registered nurse and midwife, and has worked in mulitple areas of nursing in England and Australia.   Lesley has over 20 years experience in dermatology including research, phototherapy, PDT, biologics, surgery and wound care.  She has also travelled the world lecturing on epidermolysis bullosa.  She has a keen interest in psoriasis.
